The kitchen on the yacht
What will we eat on the yacht? Will we die of hunger? How often do we have to answer such questions beginner yachtsmen. We assure you, the yacht has all the conditions, and the dining options are no worse than in an elegant restaurant. The main thing is desire and mood!

EQUIPMENT

BBYachting
The kitchen, or galley, is equipped with everything necessary to realize any culinary skills and surprise the crew. There is a refrigerator, a freezer, a gas stove, an oven, a sink with cold and hot water, all the necessary dishes: deep plates, ordinary plates, saucers, cups, glasses, glasses, spoons, forks, knives, a set of pots of different sizes, a frying pan, kettle, colander and many other useful little things. The higher the level of class and comfort of the yacht, the better the equipment: coffee maker, ice maker, microwave oven, dishwasher and even washing machine!
WATCH
BBYachting
The whole team participates in the preparation of food according to the established rotation. This is the law of the sea: the galley is a place of increased risk, there is fire, gas, boiling water, so the number of people in the galley during cooking is minimal. A shift of 2 people is assigned to provide food and drinks throughout the day. There should be a hot meal every day. The watch changes every day. Those on duty also monitor order in the galley and cockpit.
WAVE!
BBYachting
You can cook on the stove only when the yacht is motoring or we are standing in a bay, at anchor or in a marina. With the appearance of a wave, the crew must loudly warn the galley by shouting "Wave!". If the yacht is under sail, it is forbidden to cook on the stove, unless the skipper has given a different command.
SAVING
BBYachting
During the transition, we use water very sparingly! Tanks with fresh water are not limitless, and we need water for life. We never know for sure when we will be able to refill the tanks with fresh water.
ORDER
BBYachting
Before leaving the marina for the sea, we wait until the galley has finished cooking, washed and cleaned the dishes, closed all the boxes, secured everything that can fall and spill, fill the tanks with fresh water and go out to sea.
ECOLOGY
BBYachting
We treat our nature with care. We sort the garbage, we don't throw anything overboard, we don't take plastic dishes on deck if they can fly overboard.
SKIPPER
BBYachting
The skipper is not allowed to cook in the kitchen. It is the duty of the skipper to constantly monitor the safety of the team and the yacht. Therefore, by law, the crew must feed the skipper during the entire cruise. After all, your life and safety depend on the skipper. It would be a good tone to invite the skipper to a restaurant for dinner. After all, everything on the yacht is a single team!
When going on a yacht, think of a dish that you will surprise your crew with. Buy spices and seasonings in advance, they may not be available in local stores.
General tips for the menu on a yacht
BBYachting
All dishes should be as simple and quick to prepare as possible.
It is better to prepare preparations for the whole day in the morning. Think in advance what you will feed the team, buy the necessary products while the yacht is in the marina.
Swimming in sea water, wind, sun take a lot of energy from a person, so your menu should be more nutritious than usual.
At sea, it is better to eat seafood: mussels, oysters, shrimps, scallops, various fish, octopuses and much more. All this can be purchased in every small town if you get up early.

  • Scrambled eggs in chicory leaves - a recipe from the skipper. Very fast, tasty, beautiful and nutritious!
  • Hot Bohdanchiki sandwiches". The perfect snack during a long transition. The name "Bohdanchiki" was invented by a little boy, Vanya, when Bohdan Brodovsky prepared these canapes for him
  • Spaghetti with shrimps in the most delicate cream-garlic-cheese sauce
  • Avocado with shrimp. We brought this recipe from the island of La Gomera, Canary Islands. That's how shrimp salad with avocado is served there. When you are in the Canary Islands, be sure to visit La Gomera!
  • Mussels in white wine and oysters from the KRKA River. On the yacht, we always plan our trip to visit farms and buy fresh oysters and mussels
  • Bolognese pasta. What a trip without naval pasta, but on the yacht we prepare exclusively Pasta Bolognese!
